Competition
I am probably one of the most competitive people you will ever meet. But, I am not competitive against other people or organizations. My competition is myself. The desire to be the best without proper self examination can lead to pride and arrogance and these two things will keep you from being everything you can be. If you were driving from St. Louis to Kansas City and you stopped in Columbia, MO, as great as Columbia is, you are still stopping short of your destination. “Good” is the worst enemy of the “best”. Proper assessment is needed to achieve your destiny. Ask yourself, “Am I cutting edge”. “Am I doing something different?” “Am I the best?” If you’re not, then someone else will be!
On the other hand, self examination can be one of the most liberating exercises you can do.
1 Cor 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.
If you properly and honestly judge yourself then it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. If you have honestly and thoroughly assessed yourself then other people’s opinions don’t matter. Other’s opinions of you can keep you in bondage, too. If I have any fear in my life, then it’s the fear that I will still be exactly where I am, right now, a year from now. I am not satisfied with status quo. I don’t want to be an “echo”, someone that is doing what everyone else is doing, I want to be a “voice”.
God Bless,
Dave
