Fulfilling Your Purpose - Part Two
If I could teach only one message, besides the Gospel of the Kingdom,
Luke 17:20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation;
Luke 17:21 “nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
It would be seeking, or fulfilling, your purpose. And, actually, the two go hand in hand. When I say, “fulfilling your purpose”, I am not talking about your occupation nor am I talking about filling a ministry position in your church. I am talking about what you were created for. That “seed” that God placed inside of you, before you were born. Every Believer has a purpose and a destiny. Everything you want or need lies within the parameters of fulfilling that purpose, and so does the needs of many other people.
One of the greatest analogies I have ever heard, and it came from a well known minister, is that of a person, a body, hanging out of a three story window. Half of the person is inside of the window and half is outside. The part that is inside the window can see this great treasure that lies before them. The part that is hanging outside doesn’t even know there is a great treasure and on top of it all they think they are headed for certain doom. Those of us that know that there is more have got to stop focusing on ourselves and reaching our destiny and help everyone else realize theirs, also. We must all reach it or none of us will realize our full potential.
Eph 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Eph 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Eph 4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
Eph 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head; Christ;
Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
Consider the half that is hanging outside of the window. Put yourself in their shoes and feel what they feel. Wouldn’t you be scared? Wouldn’t you be fighting to stay alive. I believe that much of the strife that goes on in the church today is based on that fear of survival and not hatred for one another. They are just trying to stay alive. But, we that know there is more must reach out with a loving hand and grab those that are fighting us and pull them into their destiny also. It’s not about “ME”! It’s about “US”! To quote another well known minister, “Someone is waiting on the other side of your obedience.”
God Bless,
Dave
