What is “The Gathering”? - Part Four
Freedom in Worship
I believe the very nature of God is outlined in the very first book of the Bible, the Book of Genesis, in which He reveals Himself as a Creator. If we have the nature of our Father, then we should also have His nature, which is creative. I believe then that the very heart of The Gathering should be creative. Creative in every aspect of life.
Worship, in itself, is spiritual and therefore should exhibit the heart and nature of the Father. Worship is not just about music. Worship is a release from the heart. The Father, Himself, inhabits our praises. The Holy Spirit is actively involved in our praises. He uses us to praise Himself, therefore, praise is creative.
Since praise is a release from the heart, it can therefore also be revealed through other venues, such as art and dance, as an example. The Christian is called to liberty, which is not lawlessness, but freedom to love and worship our Father as His children should. Therefore we believe that God truly desires for the arts to be restored to the church and used to worship Him in spirit and truth and to be both creative and spontaneous.
God Bless,
Dave
