A Divine Collision
When God speaks to you, at times, it can be very “dangerous”. At times you may not hear what you want to hear. Two weeks ago I had one of those “Divine Collisions”. When we are trying to achieve something in ministry, we can become so focused that we can loose site of God. We can often hear His voice quite clearly and try to be obedient, but in our striving, we seem to run into obstacles that hinder us. Most of the time we enter into spiritual warfare and blame the Adversary for our problems. Sometimes our zeal can overcome us. We are to labor, but not to strive.
Two weeks ago my family and I were in prayer and I believe the Lord spoke to me and said, “You are contending with the Lion. Not the Enemy.” I came up with every possible solution to who the Lion was, but in my heart, I knew what it meant.
Later that evening, the Lord began to lay it all out to me as He spoke two verses very clearly to me.
Prov 4:18 But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
Prov 4:19 The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble.
James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
“Wicked” doesn’t just mean the unsaved. It can also include a Christian that is in error in some way and the Lord began to speak to me about “Pride” in my life. Most people that know me would say that I am not a prideful person, but that doesn’t matter. God did say it and it doesn’t matter if I had one ounce of pride or ten pounds. Pride is pride. Pride says, “God can’t handle it. I will do it myself.” And suddenly, when my sin was placed directly in front of my face, I could no longer see anyone else. I couldn’t see the offenses done against me. I couldn’t see anyone else’s sin. All I could see was my own sin and the verdict really is “guilty”. I suddenly became aware of God’s mercy. Everything that I have in my life, I have, because of God’s mercy. Admittedly, I am not a pitiful sinner. I know I am redeemed and restored and I am the righteous of God through Christ Jesus. I wasn’t beating myself up, but I felt more conviction than I have ever felt before in my life. God’s mercy is incredible. Absolutely incredible. There is nothing God can’t do. No person is beyond God’s reach. No sin too great. God’s mercy is immeasurable.
And, I know I am a child of God.
Heb 12:6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
Heb 12:7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
Heb 12:8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
God Bless,
